This depends on each guests' interests. Patagonia is an extensive region, and Puerto Natales has a varied climate – in addition to strong winds, in one day it is possible to experience rain, then sun, then clouds, much like 4 seasons in one day. The period with the most wind is from November to February, when the days are the longest; from March to May the colors of flora are more vibrant; in winter during July and August the days are shorter, yet there are few other travelers during this time, and our visitors can enjoy landscapes and excursions in near solitude, as well the peaks are dusted with snow and make for gorgeous views; in September spring begins and until November visitors can view flowers bloom, and the birth of young guanacos (chulengos). Each season offers a different attraction.
REMOTA'S location is at the heart of Chilean Patagonia, which gives us the opportunity to provide our guests with a total Patagonian experience, with excursions to varied regions to see not just Torres del Paine National Park, but to also see mountain ranges, fjords, glaciers, and the history and culture of the region, including estancias, indigenous sites, museums, and more. We are also able to offer forays that include geology and paleontology, and put our guests in touch with local people.
To reach REMOTA, you may either fly to Punta Arenas by plane on one of three airlines for a total of 4
flights per day: LAN, Sky, and Aircomet airlines. We recommend travelers opt for the earliest flight when
arriving to Punta Arenas, and an afternoon flight on the day of departure. Travelers may also arrive by road from Argentina, crossing at one of two borders:
Paso Río Don Guillermo to Cerro Castillo, Chile (open 24 hours), or at Dorothea (open 24 hours), and Casa Viejas (open between 8am and 10pm), which connects directly to Puerto Natales.
REMOTA offers a courtesy shuttle from the Punta Arenas airport on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the following hours:
Punta Arenas Airport - REMOTA at 1pm and 5pm
REMOTA - Punta Arenas Airport at 8am and 1pm
Chilean international border at Cerro Castillo (Cafetería Ñandúú) at 1pm All other times and days are an additional cost.
