3 Days / 2 Nights

This is one of our most interesting journeys for those who wish to discover Nicaragua 'off the beaten path'. The journey takes us to the little visited central region of Nicaragua, a cool, mountainous area which boasts a very interesting array of biodiversity.

En route we will make a stop in the city of Sebaco, where we will visit a coffee processing plant and learn all about the magic bean - how it grows, methods of processing and exportation.

At Selva Negra, we will start our program of activities, including a hike through an impressive mixed humid forest, which provides a lush habitat for many different types of plants, birds and unusual animals (even mountain crabs).

We spend the night at a mountain lodge which features a a cosy and comfortable dining room and individual wooden cabins that are especially attractive during the cool evenings.

The next day, we will use a 4x4 vehicle to travel through the green mountainous countryside of the Matagalpa - Jinotega region and spend a day with the farmers of this area. We will learn a lot, not only about coffee, reforestation and other agriculture products, but also about the social life on a typical Nicaraguan farm.

We will spend the night at the owner's house of Finca La Cumplida and make a complete tour of the Finca's facilities.

Day 1: Managua - Matagalpa - Selva Negra

In accompany of our driver and English speaking tour guide, transfert from Managua to the northern region of Nicaragua known for its coffee plantation. We will arrive at Selva Negro, a big estate turned hotel, which offers a special experience in the middle of the tropical montane rainforest. You can choose trails according to your physical ability.

Day 2: Selva Negra - La Finca la Cumplida

After a last walk through this property, transfer to Finca La Cumplida. This great estate has organized its own community including its own school and cooperatives. You will receive an introduction of the site with a local guide.

Day 3: Finca La Cumplida - Managua

Return to the capital Managua.
