Day 1: QUITO - SAN CRISTOBAL, GALAPAGOS

At your arrival in the small city of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno in San Cristóbal Island, our guide and team will welcome you at the airport to take you to your hotel. We will enjoy of a group lunch before heading to the Interpretation Center of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Here we will learn about the natural and human history of the islands, the unique geographical situation of the Galapagos Islands, and about the plans for the future and conservation of this fragile ecosystem. Here we also find the trailhead to the point known as Cerro Tijeretas, a unique site to observe colonies of Frigate Birds nesting in the scenic viewpoint. As we descend from the top of the 'Tijeretas' hill, we will have two options to choose from: The first option is to head to the “Cabo de Hornos” area, where we will have a chance to swim or snorkel in this gorgeous spot. The second option leads us to Playa Carola, a beautiful spot to see a huge colony of sea lions in their natural habitat.

Day 2: SAN CRISTOBAL - Isabela Island

After a nice breakfast in our hotel, we will head to the airport to catch our flight towards Isabela Island, the biggest of the Archipelago. After a 40 minute flight we will arrive to Puerto Villamil, one of the most beautiful coastal towns of South America. From the pier we will head to the hotel according to your chosen category. Lunch is followed by a visit the “Humedales” wetlands, where we can find Flamingos, sea gulls, ducks and many other species of marine birds that can be observed from the elevated wood walk. The path then leads to the Tortoise Breeding Center, where we can see tortoises from all sizes and from different subspecies. Our transport will then take us back to the hotel and we can enjoy of a free afternoon in this scenic town.

Day 3: Isabela Trekking: Sierra Negra Volcano & Volcano Chico

Isabela is known for having the second largest crater in the world, the first being the Ngorongoro in Africa. In the morning we will visit this massive natural formation, occurring from volcanic eruptions that created the young islands. In the morning, our transport will leave us at a checkpoint, from where we will hike up to the rim of the crater from where, if weather permits, we will be able to see the whole diameter of the crater (6 miles/11 km.) We can observe lava flows, and learn about the formations of these incredible places. If our group is feeling up to it, we can hike a further hour and a half to Volcan Chico, a moon-like landscape that faces north and to the other volcanos of Isabela as well as Fernandina.
Alternatively we can head back to town after the visit of the Sierra Negra, and take part in a shared tour of 'Las Tintoreras', a place where observation of turtles, marine iguanas, penguins and sharks is possible. This day we can also enjoy of a nice lunch, and some beach time.

Day 4: ISABELA ISLAND - SANTA CRUZ ISLAND

We will depart Isabela in the morning, heading to Santa Cruz Island and the city of Puerto Ayora, arriving at about 10 in the morning. The possibilities to see dolphins on route is quite high, given that in this leg of water dolphins are generally found swimming happily next to boats. After lunch and some free time to settle into our rooms, we will head to visit the famous Charles Darwin Research Station, where we can learn about the various scientific and research efforts taken to preserve and about this beautiful place that is the Galapagos. We can then enjoy of the biggest town of the Galapagos, trying some delicious sea food, listening to live music, or simply relax in the small but fun town.

Day 5: SANTA CRUZ ISLAND, Highlands and Tortuga Bay Beach

The highlands of Santa Cruz Island showcase a strange combination of incredible sights. From uniquely beautiful vegetation, the incredibly huge turtles that roam freely through the pastures of tall grass, to the amazing lava tunnels that hide and incredibly rich geological history. In the morning we will head to this part of the island where we can experience all this, while visiting a local farm to hike in the area. When we return to Puerto Ayora, we will have a short resting period and lunch before we head to one of the most famous beaches of the Galapagos, a beautiful place known as Tortuga Bay. After an hour (to an hour thirty minutes) walk we arrive to the heavenly spot, where the soft coral sand and nice scenery make this a special location for anyone visiting. We can observe colonies of Marine iguanas, boobies and marine birds, as well as mangroves, and interesting flora of the coast. Late afternoon we will return to our hotel to rest for the night after a fun day.

Day 6: Return to Mainland

Our last day in the Galapagos we will take our car to head to the airport, but not before stopping by the incredible natural formation known as 'The twins' (Los Gemelos) Craters, that lie on the route to the Itabaca Canal. Our guide will help us with our check in, and we will take our flight back to Guayaquil or Quito (or programed extension).
