From Quito we travel south along the Pan-American Highway towards the Cotopaxi National Park, where you'll have the opportunity to take a short hike around the Limpiopungo lake at 3,800 m and enjoy the wonderful highland terrain of this area. Marvel at the impressive view of snow-capped Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. Stay overnight in a charming local hacienda (BL).
On the second day of our tour, we'll visit Zumbahua, one of the least spoiled highland areas of Ecuador. We'll then travel to the amazing volcanic lake of Quilotoa.Here we will enjoy a hike to go down to the shores of the lagoon or go around the rim of the crater while enjoying amazing views of the Andes. Afterwards we will drive to Zumbahua, one of the most unspoiled highland areas of Ecuador and which offers nice views of the area and the enjoyment of the Indigenous Market (which runs every Saturday). Later, and passing the village of Pujili (Indian market runs every Wednesday), we continue our drive to the city of Ambato In the afternoon we'll arrive in Baños, a picturesque town located at the gateway to the jungle, where we will stay overnight. After breakfast, we'll drive to Riobamba before continuing to San Juan and from there to the upper highlands of Chimborazo, Ecuador's highest volcano. Here it is possible to observe graceful vicuñas and there will be time to admire this impressive mountain. If in good shape perhaps we can do a walk up to the Whymper refuge at 5,000 m. Drive back to Quito. (B,BL).
