From Quito we travel south along the Pan-American Highway towards the Cotopaxi National Park, where you'll have the opportunity to take a short hike around the Limpiopungo lake at 3,800 m and enjoy the wonderful highland terrain of this area. Marvel at the impressive view of snow-capped Cotopaxi, one of the highest active volcanoes in the world. Stay overnight in a charming local hacienda (BL).
On the second day of our tour, we'll visit Zumbahua, one of the least spoiled highland areas of Ecuador. We'll then travel to the amazing volcanic lake of Quilotoa. In the afternoon we'll arrive in Baños, a picturesque town located at the gateway to the jungle, where we will stay overnight. (B,BL).
After breakfast, we'll drive to Riobamba before continuing to San Juan and from there to the upper highlands of Chimborazo, Ecuador's highest volcano. Here it is possible to observe graceful vicuñas and there will be time to admire this impressive mountain. If in good shape perhaps we can do a walk up to the Whymper refuge at 5,000 m. Drive back to Quito. (B,BL).
