This is the option for the less active, yet adventurous traveler. An itinerary that offers a comprehensive visit to Torres del Paine NP with comfortable accommodation at our EcoCamp and guided excursions. Suitable for travelers continuing on to Argentina, following a Mare Australis cruise, or connecting with cruises to Antarctica.

Boarding the earliest morning flight from Santiago, you will arrive in Punta Arenas around noon, where you will be picked up and transferred to our Ecocamp situated within the famous Torres del Paine National Park (345 km/ 216 miles /5hrs). During the summer months (Dec-Mar), the sun sets around 11PM giving us plenty of light to admire the landscape en route and the craggy mountains as we enter the park. We will make short stops in the township of Puerto Natales to take a look at the town (you may leave any luggage that you will not need during the trek in our office in Puerto Natales). We will also take a peek at the enormous Cueva del Milodon, a cave that not only sheltered prehistoric man, but perhaps also a prehistoric sloth, a representation of which is displayed in this cave. Overnight at our Ecocamp in Las Torres (BL ,D);
We take the vehicle to cross the park, sighting the impressive Paine Grande and Los Cuernos along the way, and finally reaching the shores of Lake Pehoe. Walk close to the furious Salto Grande that gushes the waters of Lake Nordenskjold over Pehoe. Continue on the Nordenskjold trail, a gentle walk (1h RT), to reach its lookout point. Once back at Lake Pehoe, board the vehicle and drive south to the shores of Lake Grey. After box-lunch on the lake board the ship that sails (1,5h round trip) across the lake to the towering glacier walls. Weather permitting we can take the chance to walk over lake Grey's windy shore (45 mins), where icebergs frequently beach themselves. Return to EcoCamp for dinner and overnight; (B, BL, D)

Spend the day on short walks (2hrs) to observe local wildlife. Depending on your luck, you may spot Huanaco herds, Foxes, Ñandus (Patagonian Rhea), Condors and various other birds. The trails around Lago Sarmiento feature a constant broad view over the Paine massif with frequent spotting of Puma tracks. The Puma (Chilean cougar) hides on the shores of Lake Sarmiento where natural shelters are carved in the calcium-carbonate soil surrounding the lake. Once back at the EcoCamp enjoy a traditional farewell dinner. (B, BL, D)
