Moho Caye Lodge

Paradise Beach at Moho Caye LodgeAdmit it. Deep within every adventure traveler beats the heart of a castaway. How often have you dreamt of a secluded vacation on your own private island? Of a place with no distractions but the calls of frigatebirds and gulls, and lapping waves at your feet? Where your sole companions are palm trees and pristine sand and clear blue water?

Moho Cay Lodge is set on an idyllic tiny white-sand, palm tree covered island in the spectacular Port Honduras Marine Reserve. Depart in the morning by electric boat, from Jungle Camp, for the trip down river and towards the coast, passing through several distinctive ecosystems along the way. Watch for Howler Monkeys and parrots as the sun rises over the jungle river. Transfer to our marine boat at Rosewood Landing, about 1-mile from the coast, for the 30-minute trip to Moho Cay Lodge. Break out of the Jungle into the sunshine and the blue Caribbean.

Cabin at Moho LodgeMoho Cay Lodge consists of raised luxury safari style tents covered by a thatched roof. Solar panels provide electricity for ceiling fans and lights, and the sun also provides warm water for showering. Each unit has it own private stretch of beach surrounded on both sides by tropical island vegetation. The tents are very spacious with hardwood floors, wicker furnishings, and tiled bathroom with walk-in shower. The verandas actually extend out over the water with panoramic view of the blue, blue Caribbean Sea. There's a restaurant and bar at one end of the cay, an expert chef to prepare fresh-caught fish, lobster and conch from the nearby reef. Dine under the cloudless sky with a spectacular view of the open sea to the east and the distant Maya Mountains to the west. What castaway ever had it better?

Sunset at Moho Caye LodgeFrom Moho Cay Lodge, enjoy half- and full-day snorkeling, swimming, and sea kayaking excursions within the Marine Reserve. Explore Payne's Creek National Park, Ycacos Lagoon, Wild Cane Cay, the Seven Hills, and Middle River. Full-day trips to the Sapodilla Cays Marine Reserve, at the southern tip of the Great Belize Barrier Reef, include some of the best snorkeling in the world. Or you could just lounge on the beach, your feet washed by the Caribbean, enjoying your own private paradise. And, do nothing for a while.

Charter flights transport guests directly from Belize City International Airport to BLE's private airstrip located a quarter of a mile from Indian Creek Lodge. The flight takes about 50 minutes and flies along the Belize coast paralleling the Barrier Reef to the east and the Maya Mountains to the west. Entering the Toledo District the flight passes over Payne's Creek National Park, the Port Honduras Marine Zone, turns north and follows along the Golden Stream before landing at Indian Creek.
