

Located in the southern part of Osa Peninsula, next to Corcovado National Park, La Leona Eco Lodge is an excellent choice for nature lovers, who want to spend some time far away from civilization. It's a great place where to combine an exotic beach vacation with active adventures. Thanks to the difficult access, the peninsula is almost fully covered by untouched rainforest. The Corcovado National Park is very rich in term of its biodiversity, with over 100 different species of trees per hectare and numerous endemic plants and animals. Explore this green paradise via a network of trails, climb a huge jungle tree and observe birds and other animals from a platform that overlooks the jungle. Horses are also available.
The 'lodge' is actually a very comfortable tent camp. Each tent sits on wooden platform with its own little deck offering great views over the Pacific Ocean. Inside, the tents are equipped with one or two twin size beds and mosquito nets. The lodge offers consists of a total of 16 tents, 4 of which share a central washroom with 4 showers and 4 toilets. However, the tents we included in this roundtrip have their own private outside garden bathroom. The kitchen and the restaurant are located just a few minutes away from the tents. Dinners are usually enjoyed family style, together with all the other guests. Lunch can be prepared as a box lunch to take with you on your day excursions. Here is our roundtrip from / to San José:
Our driver picks you up at your hotel in San José and drives you to the airport. On a 50 minutes flight with SANSA along the pacific coast enjoy the views from above of untouched beaches, jungle, banana and palm oil plantations. You will fly directly to Puerto Jiménez followed by an adventurous transfer over a bumpy road and cross several rivers to Carate. From Carate on you will enjoy a hike along the beach and finally reach the eco lodge. Our luggage and those guests who do not wish to walk along the beach, will be transferred by horse coach. After check-in the rest of the day is at your leisure.
INFORMATION: The short walk from Carate to the camp is subject to the tides of the sea. We might have to wait some time until the sea permits us to walk along the beach. However it's it a beautiful place to wait!

Both days are at your leisure. We let you decide whether you want to relax on the beautiful beach, or if you wish to be more active. You can book guided walks through Corcovado National Park, a horseback riding tour to a gold digging camp or climbing a tree platform to view the jungle canopy. None of these tours are included and must be paid at the lodge.

Head back to Carate where your pick-up vehicle is already waiting for you to take you to Puerto Jiménez for your return flight to San José international airport. Our driver picks picks you up to transfer you to a city hotel in San José.
