COSTA RICA QUICKLINKS:

Corcovado Tent Camp

jungle1 (57K)Located in the south of Osa Peninsula and on the border to Corcovado National Park, Corcovado Tent Camp is an excellent choice for nature lovers, who want to spend their vacation far away from civilization and combine an exotic beach escape with activities. Thanks to the difficult access, the peninsula is almost fully covered with untouched rainforest. The Corcovado National Park offers an incredible biodiversity with over 100 different trees on just 1 hectare and also many endemic species of plants and animals. You can hike the trails through the jungle, climb an old jungle tree and observe birds and other animals on a platform overlooking the canopy. Horses are also available.

The Corcovado Tent Camp is neither a hotel nor a resort, but a real tent camp. However it is a very comfortable camp. The spacious tents are built on a wooden platform and a light roof construction offers protection against the heavy rainfalls that might occur sometimes. The tents are fitted with mosquito nets and can be "sealed" with curtains. Each tent has a terrace with 2 chairs and a breathtaking view of the Pacific Ocean. Inside the tent, there are two wooden bed constructions with mattresses. Between the beds, there is some space to store luggage. There are 20 tents in total, well distributed throughout the large terrain and about 20 meters from the ocean. The sanitary facilities can be found in the center of the Camp in 2 independent buildings. Each building has 4 toilets, 4 showers and 4 washbasins, fixed to the outside of the building. The kitchen, the restaurant and a cozy bar with hammocks are located on a small hill. The restaurant offers excellent cuisine and has 4 large wooden tables, where all guests eat together like a big family. From the restaurant you enjoy a beautiful view to the Pacific Ocean. Here is our roundtrip from / to San José:

Day 1:

We pick you up at your hotel in San José and drive to the airport. On a 50 minutes flight along the pacific coast, you will be able to observe untouched beaches, jungle, banana and palm oil plantations. You will fly directly to Carate by charter plane or with Nature Air to Puerto Jiménez. In this case, you will enjoy an adventurous transfer over a bumpy road and cross several rivers to Carate. From Carate on you will enjoy a hike along the beach and finally reach the tent camp. The luggage and those guests who don't want to walk along the beach, will get a lift by a horse coach. Check-in and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. INFORMATION: The short walk from Carate to the camp depends on the tides of the sea. We might have to wait some time until the sea permits to walk along the beach. However it's a beautiful place to wait!
