Robinson Crusoe Island Resort

Robinson Crusoe Island Hotel, Chile

This boutique resort is really a very special place. Located on a legendary island, some 415 miles off the coast it is called Robinson Crusoe Island and with good reason: Alexander Selkirk, an English seafarer, lived on the islands all by himself for 4 years and 4 months from 1704 to 1708 after stranding; later on, his story inspired Daniel Defoe to write his famous novel 'The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe.'

All three islands are filled with exotic and endemic vegetation; both the flora and wildlife are noteworthy. Scientists from all over the world come to Robinson Crusoe to study 38 types of ferns, native trees, the endemic hummingbird, the Luma tree, the Canelo, the Chonta palm tree, the Juan Fernandez fur seal, and the Robinson's lobster are just some of this wide variety of species. The island was declared national park and World Biosphere Reserve in 1977 by the UNESCO.

Robinson Crusoe Hotel Dining Robinson Crusoe Island has all the ingredients for a real off-the beaten-track adventure. This destination harbors surprises and offers plenty of formidable attractions. The tranquility of the place and the kindness of its people are rarely found anywhere else, and the views from the mountains and the variety of wildlife are spectacular. The Juan Fernandez Archipelago was discovered in 1574 and it became a preferred haven for pirates and buccaneers after crossing Cape Horn or South America's tip at the Strait of Magellan.

Robinson Crusoe Island Hotel opened in 2007. It is located on the island of the same name and was designed to put visitors in direct contact with the magnificent environment, within a safe and tranquil place. Flights from Santiago's Tobalaba Airport take about 2 ½ hours to reach the island.

The restaurant at the hotel offers freshly prepared local and international treats. Exceptional local seafood like the famous Juan Fernandez Lobster, vidriola, golden crab, and breca will be prepared by an experienced chef.
