Beautiful "Hacienda Los Andes" is nestled in the Hurtado Valley, in the foothills of the Andes, 70 km /41 miles from the city of Ovalle and 130 km / 82 mi from La Serena. Hurtado Valley kept its villages, lifestyles, and local traditions unperturbed by certain influences of our day and time. Rio Hurtado has been rushing through the valley since time immemorial, passing through the Hacienda grounds for a couple of kilometers along its way. The largest part of the hacienda property is set aside as a nature reserve with several trails for hiking, walking and horseback riding.

Day 1: La Serena - Hacienda Los Andes

Transfer to the Hacienda from La Serena (airport), Ovalle or Vicuña. In the afternoon you can enjoy a hike along one of the trails of the hacienda's nature reserve. You will have time to enjoy the Jacuzzi overlooking the valley before dinner. Overnight at the Hacienda. (D)

Day 2 & 3: Hacienda Los Andes

For the next two days at the hacienda you can choose from the following excursions:
Horseback Riding: Ride a horse into the prestine mountain landscape of the Andes. The horses are trained for non-riders as well. Enjoy an exquisite excursion into the Sierra of the Andes. The clear mountain air allows views of more than 200 kilometers / 120 miles.

Pichasca Forest:
Alternatively, visit the fossilized forest in the lower Hurtado Valley. During this excursion you will also visits some of the neighboring villages, historical places where the local people are still curious about the "gringos" that pass by and take time to get to know you and show off their local traditions.

Four wheel drive trip:
On this full day trip we will drive into the high Andes in a 4 X 4 vehicle, visiting isolated mountain villages, weavers and hermitages as we pass through deserted mountain landscapes.

Hiking:
You can start on good hiking trails directly from the hacienda; one of the more interesting trails leads through "Quebrada Vina Canyon" up to a beautiful little oasis. On the way we will pass an ancient Indian ceremonial place, where we will be able to learn a bit more about the culture of the Diaguita Indians. In the afternoons and before dinner you can enjoy the Jacuzzi. Overnight at the Hacienda. (B,L,D)

Day 4: Hacienda Los Andes - La Serena

After breakfast you will have time to enjoy the hacienda and its surrounding nature reserve. Depending on the place and hour of your connecting flight, we will drive you to La Serena, Ovalle or Vicuña. (B)
