Facilities

'Lamanai' means 'submerged crocodile' and the lagoons near the lodge are a good place to see them. Guided excursions after dark allow you to discover the nocturnal wildlife of the lagoons.

The Package

Whether you arrive at the International Airport in Belize City or are already in Belize, you can take advantage of the lodges regularly scheduled shuttle service between the airport and the lodge, which runs three times a day. This shuttle service is included in the regular packages and comprises of a 45 minute drive north of Belize City, where you will be transfered to a boat. The boat journey takes about an hour and takes you deep into the interior of the country.

The standard accommodations for the all inclusive package are 'Superior Garden View' Chalets, very comfortable, fully screened, thatch roof cabins, built with hardwood and mahogany. They are well ventilated and are fitted with a high output ceiling fan. All cabins have 24 hour electricity and a small refrigerator. There is ample luggage storing space and a safe where you can keep your valuables. The standard cabin has a Queen size and a Double bed, and private bathroom with running hot and cold water. The package also includes all guiding services, entrance fees and taxes. Internet access is also available at the lodge - with the higher grade accommodation you can have internet access in your own room.

Note Lamanai has its own airstrip and private charter flights can be arranged to or from almost any location in Belize. However, although flying is convenient and will get you there considerably quicker than the journey by road and boat, Sacred Earth would strongly recommend the ground transportation route. The unforgettable hour ride on the river can already be considered part of your adventure and will slowly and naturally engulf you in the mystery of the jungle. Also, on ecological grounds, unneccessary flights should be avoided whenever possible.
