
Inkaterra Machu Picchu can be either a quiet retreat for the mind and body or a base for
numerous excursions. The hotel offers 14 varied excursions covering a range of three
intensity levels. Some ideal for children, while others involve significant exertion, such as a
full-day hike on the Inca trail. All excursions are guided by trainerd Interpreters, who also
provide basic equipment and snacks, as needed. Each visitor can arrange, with the
interpreters, an individual schedule upon arrival according to their itineraries, time and
desired activity level. We recommend the following basic itinerary for a three-day visit. Each
activity can be substituted by various others of the same duration. Some excursions require
pre-booking and additional payments.

Reception at Machu Picchu train station by member(s) of hotel staff and assistance in
transferring luggage to hotel. Check-in and proceed to your Casita, where hotel services
will be explained and where you will plan your excursions to the archaeological site,
activities on the hotel grounds, dinner reservations, and other services.
Lunch in the main dining room or in Café Inkaterra, where Andean style food is served overlooking the Vilcanota River.
Orchid excursion on hotel grounds, where you will find the world's largest collection of native orchid species in their natural setting within a private facility (372 species). Discover this extraordinary plant family that has captured the human imagination for centuries. (Another option: The Nature Walk).
Visit the Tea House (Casa del Té) and participate in processing tea grown right on the hotel grounds. Watch as the freshly picked leaves are ground by hand over rock or are slowly dried over an open fire.
Tea time with a selection of organically grown teas from the hotel's natural garden.
Andean Sauna (Additional cost). An energy cleansing ritual in a domed wet lodge built of eucalyptus branches and stones heated in an open fire. A choice of massage services is available.
Nature presentation. Talk and video at Café Inkaterra by the resident biologist and the hotel's head guide on the flora and fauna of the Machu Picchu Historical Reserve.
Cocktails and dinner in the main dining room or Café Inkaterra.
Enjoy the comforts of your Casita (if you choose a Superior Deluxe or higher category Casita, you can relax in front of your own warm fireplace).

Wake up early to see the archaeological site at dawn. Buffet breakfast with eggs, cereals, fruit, avocado and fresh bread in the main dining room.
Depart aboard the first bus, for a 25-minute ride to the archaeological site of Machu Picchu, just in time to catch the sunrise over the enigmatic citadel.
Machu Picchu: Participate in a three-to-five-hour excursion through the citadel of stone and surroundings, to experience the energy and atmosphere of one of the most significant and spectacular archaeological sites on the planet.
Lunch at Café Inkaterra. The return bus from the archaeological site to the village leaves every half hour until 5:30 p.m.
Tea time at the hotel.
Twilight Walk. Private guide for walk in the cloud forest for meditation and mystical connection, visiting pre-Inca rock paintings (pictographs) at Rocotal and Alccamayo, from which the archaeological site of Wiñay Wayna can be seen on a clear day.

Nature presentation and cocktails.
Massage session at the UNU Spa (Additional cost). Here you can take advantage of a traditional massage, Thai massage, or a reflexology treatment. You may also spend time in the Andean Sauna.
Dinner.
Sleep in your Casita.
You have two options. For enthusiasts: Get up early to enjoy the hotel gardens.
Guided Birdwatching Walk: There are 180 species of native birds including the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock and a record of 18 varieties of hummingbirds on the extensive hotel grounds. You may also choose the Nature Walk or the Orchids Excursion.
For those who want to rest: Sleep late and enjoy your breakfast buffet until 10:00 a.m. Check-out of the hotel. After checking-out, enjoy the hotel grounds while waiting for your return train, or have lunch in the Main Dining room or Café Inkaterra. Then, take the train back to Cusco or Ollantaytambo.
